(Bio)Chemist for the delevopment and modification of agarose beads

Your tasks:

• Production of agarose beads for use in protein purification.
• Chemical modification and functionalization of the beads with various (bio)molecules to optimize their properties for specific applications.
• Development and implementation of methods to improve the efficiency and stability of the beads.
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to integrate the beads into our microdevices.
• Documentation and analysis of experiments and presentation of results.

Your profile:

• Degree in chemistry, biochemistry or a related field. Preferably with a Master's degree and professional experience or a doctorate.
• Sound knowledge of polymer chemistry, in particular with the functionalization of surfaces.
• Experience in the chemical modification of biomaterials
• Practical experience in laboratory environments and in handling chemical reagents.
• Creative problem solving skills and the ability to develop innovative approaches.
• Good communication skills in German and English and team spirit.

Laboratory Management Protein & Bioanalytics

We are seeking an employee with one of the following or comparable qualifications:

Biological/Chemical/Medical/Pharmaceutical Technical Assistant or Laboratory Technician with additional training e.g. as a business administrator, or professional experience. Academic qualifications (B.Sc., Dipl. Ing., M.Sc.) in the relevant fields with professional experience are also welcome.

Your activities:

• Planning and maintenance of laboratory operations: planning and ordering of laboratory materials, control of incoming deliveries, maintenance of equipment based on protocols.
• Participation in the optimization of the laboratory organization and laboratory infrastructure (digitization, equipment, processes, etc.)
• Review documents and manage documents/files according to internal guidelines
• Collaborate in the laboratory in the field of protein bioanalysis and materials technology (affinity chromatography, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, gel electrophoresis, dialysis of macromolecules, chemical conjugation, optical particle sizing, digital and optical microscopy).

What you bring to the table:

• Education as BTA, CTA, MTA, PTA, Laboratory Technician or equivalent with work experience
• Practical knowledge of laboratory management & affinity with equipment and software
• Commitment, team spirit, reliability and ability to work independently
• Ability to coordinate workflows
• Possible experience with the materials management part of ERP systems

General conditions:

• Salary p.a. depends on individual professional experience
• Weekly working time is 38 hours
• Place of work is Hamburg-Hummelsbüttel
